What is the
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty?
This is a new, much less invasive procedure for weight loss since it does not require traditional abdominal surgery.
An endoscope is used to access the stomach and create folds in the upper part of it, reducing its capacity and helping control food intake.
Who qualifies for the
endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty?
It is especially suitable for those with a Body Mass Index greater than 30, who have tried other weight loss methods without success, and who want to avoid traditional bariatric surgery. However, not all patients are ideal candidates for this procedure.

What happens during an
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty?
During a gastric sleeve procedure, endoscopic instruments are used to reduce the volume of the stomach and therefore limit the amount of food that can be consumed.
Anesthesia
General anesthesia is administered to ensure that the patient is comfortable and relaxed during the process.
Beginning of the procedure
The Endoscopic Sleeve does NOT need incisions and does not generate wounds.
Stomach reduction
Folds are made in the stomach, significantly reducing the volume of the patient's stomach, so smaller amounts of food provide a feeling of satiety.
Follow ups
We ensure that the sutures are properly positioned, with no signs of bleeding.
Completion of the procedure
The endoscope is removed. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty lasts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Most people go home the same day after recovering from sedation.

versus other bariatric surgeries
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a less invasive bariatric option compared to other surgeries, such as Gastric Bypass or Laparoscopic Sleeve. While bypass and banding involve more complex anatomical changes or the use of implanted devices, the endoscopic sleeve is performed by creating folds in the stomach, eliminating the need for external incisions.
